I have admired Shay Stewart-Bouley from the first time I read her Black Girl in Maine blog many years ago met her in person when she spoke at a large group at the Portland, ME Public Library. By her revealing writing, her community engagement, and her ability to lead discussions, she has inspired predominantly-white groups to take responsibility for anti-racism work. I learned in a group she facilitated, that even committed people don’t know how much power they have to demand change.
